Oder um es mit Bill Bensley, Hotelvisionär, Designer und Mastermind hinter dem Projekt, zu sagen: „Wir sollten mehr Verantwortung für Themen wie Bildung, sauberes Wasser, alternative Energien, Lebensmittelverschwendung und den Schutz der Natur übernehmen.“ Lass uns aufhören mit dem Greenwashing und endlich etwas Richtiges tun.“ Konkret bedeutete dies: Für das Shinta Mani Mustang wurde ein bestehendes Gebäude komplett entkernt und ressourcenschonend mithilfe heimischer Handwerker umgebaut. Darüber hinaus kamen in den 29 Suiten, die alle über rund 230 m² Wohnfläche sowie Bergblick aus bodentiefen Fenstern verfügen, ausschließlich lokale Materialien und traditionell gefertigte Möbel und Gebrauchsgegenstände zum Einsatz. Als „Adventure Butler“ geschulte Bewohner der umliegenden Dörfer begleiten die Gäste auf Exkursionen, die ihnen Land und Leute auf sehr persönliche und sanfte Art näherbringen. Außerdem arbeitet das Resort eng mit der Pasang Lhamu Foundation zusammen, die ihren Namen der ersten Nepalesin auf dem Mount Everest verdankt und sich den Themen Bildung, Gesundheit und Chancengleichheit verschrieben hat. www.shintamani.com

Or to quote Bill Bensley, hotel visionary, designer and mastermind behind the project: “We should take more responsibility for issues such as education, clean water, alternative energy, food waste and the protection of nature. Let's stop greenwashing and finally do something real.” In concrete terms, this meant For the Shinta Mani Mustang, an existing building was completely gutted and rebuilt in a resource-conserving way with the help of local craftsmen. In addition, only local materials and traditionally crafted furniture and utensils were used in the 29 suites, which all have around 230 m2 of living space and mountain views from floor-to-ceiling windows. Residents of the surrounding villages, trained as “adventure butlers”, accompany guests on excursions that introduce them to the country and its people in a very personal and gentle way. The resort also works closely with the Pasang Lhamu Foundation, which owes its name to the first Nepalese woman to climb Mount Everest and is dedicated to education, health and equal opportunities.
